I'm a US-based economic development professional who specializes in government contracting and business retention and expansion. I am passionate about both optimizing processes and building a positive workplace culture

ABOUT ME
BACKGROUND
I am an empathic and analytical individual with one eye constantly fixed on the bigger picture. I grew up in an impoverished single-parent household in the middle/upper-middle class neighborhood of Magnolia, just outside of downtown Seattle. This context exposed me to the harsh implications of inequality, as well as perspectives of those who benefit from the status quo.

There was a stark contrast between living in subsidized housing and spending weekends at a friend's beach house or lake cabin. I recognize the despair that comes from poverty, and I realize that those who benefit from adequate and exceptional resources generally do so without malicious intent.
I was able to overcome the personal adversity in my upbringing. I believe this due to my access to public resources, association with healthier households, exposure upper-middle class culture, and the lack of social adversity.
HOW IT MOLDED ME
Being born into a single parent household supported by government assistance led me to enter the workforce at fourteen. It was necessary to start working early on to bring in supplemental income. Supporting myself by staying in the workforce after high school was the only viable option at the time. This reliance on employment instilled a strong work ethic, a desire to exceed expectations placed upon me, and a drive to grow in my career.

This drive carried on into my mid 20s when I went back to school. I graduated with a degree in Law, Economics, and Public Policy from the University of Washington. The personal adversity I faced as a youth exposed me to income inequality and helped me develop an empathy for individuals and groups facing personal and social barriers. My education refined my understanding of these barriers and provided me with the tools and awareness to address them. While social and economic inequality is what motivated my compassionate, curious and analytical nature, these traits carry over into the workplace.
WORKSTYLE
There are two areas where I shine in the workplace; working relationships and process development. Cultivating positive working relationships has always been a priority of mine. I genuinely care about people and want them to be satisfied being in their workspace. A positive working culture leads to improved morale. There are qualitative and quantitative benefits that come from a positive working environment from both a empathic and productivity lens.
The second area, improving on organizational processes, comes from my traits of being a curious and analytical thinker. I am passionate about improving organizational efficiency and standardized work products when applicable. When done well, this can lead to multiple benefits including reducing the strain on worker bandwidth, allowing for productivity to be used elsewhere, and allowing more time for innovation.

I have experience in administration, compliance, policy research, project management, reporting, program management, consulting, grant writing, and process development. My personal and professional experiences coalesce in an ability to objectively reason through an array of professional tasks, analyze their processes and deliverables, organize them in a sensible manner, and influence team members to work together towards common goals.
