E-UNION: A PROPOSAL FOR AN APP-BASED UNIONIZATION MODEL

June 2020

Willard, Mark "E-Union A call for an app-based unionization platform" BIS 393. June, 2020.

If you place a graph of income inequality next to a graph of unionization rates over the past 60 years, the correlation seems to be more like a causational relationship. This report is an attempt to adapt the unionization model for a more modern context. In this report, I propose a new application, or app-based approach to unionization. You will see a flexible model in this report that includes multiple tiers of service, and thus is applicable to a variety of workers. The primary skill utilized in this work is that of creativity, being able to look at trends in labor and proposing a model of worker organization that incorporates these trends.
